About
My name's Howard - horticulturist, Project Manager, amateur potter, and professional tea drinker.
Being a gardener, it perhaps goes without saying that I think plants are awesome. From waxy succulent leaves to tender floral frills, they brighten and enliven spaces with their natural variety of forms and colours.

They are givers, too. Feeding us, cleaning the air, and supporting wildlife, the intrinsic value of plants really shouldn't be underestimated.
But I'm also a city dweller, and in the glass-and-concrete jungle it can often feel as though plant life is undervalued - an afterthought, on the margins, or incidental.
So I'm looking to see how you can improve plant life in the city. If gardening is about curating nature, then there are plenty of opportunities to garden the city, too.
I also want to celebrate the greenery - the innovative landscaping and hidden oases - that already forms part of our urban fabric.
Join me as I explore what it means to be a gardener in the city and chart my journey from grey to green.
